Gasverdoving is diervriendelijk volgens de Nederlandse Overheid.
De wetenschap wijst anders uit

Onlangs is er een fatwa door WHC uitgevaardigd dat gasverdoving bij kippen alvorens de halalslacht toe te passen niet
toegestaan is.
Door regelgeving lopen slachthuizen en consumenten met meer klachten doordat
zowel onverdoofd slachten niet wordt gestimuleerd wat de natuurlijke en meest gezonde diervriendelijke wijze is
als deze volgens de regels worden uitgevoerd.
Er waren uitzonderingen waarbij electrisch waterbad was toegestaan bij kippen maar in geval van lage voltage zodat het dier verdoofd is en niet gemarteld wordt door de verdoving en direct halalgeslacht wordt erna zo snel als mogelijk.

Hier is de wet per 1 januari aan gaan sleutelen en de voltage wet verhoogd.
Dit ten koste van de kwaliteit van het vlees en moslimconsumenten die geen verdoofd halalgeslachte kip mogen consumeren.
Nu zijn er die overgegaan zijn op gasverdoving hierdoor maar ook niet door een aantal organisaties toegestaan is.

Uit onderzoek blijkt helemaal niet dat gasverdoving diervriendelijk is.

Op onderstaand nederlands vertaalde filmpje waarin het onderzoek rondom gasverdoving bij varkens wordt beschreven is duidelijk dat gasverdoving absoluut niet diervriendelijk is en er wel degelijk sprake is van dierenleed.
Wij zien dat meer wetenschappelijk onderzoek nodig is als men wil spreken van diervriendelijke slachtwijzen.
